Set your pilates intentions
It’s that time of year when good intentions are set. Along with your declarations to stress less and eat well, consider making specific Positive Pilates Resolutions for 2017 for your Pilates practice. Need inspiration? We asked our instructors to suggest a few resolutions that can benefit pilates practitioners of any level.
#1 Commit to yourself
Dedicate 110 percent to yourself and getting the most of your pilates class. In the words of Joseph Pilates, ‘At times you may feel tempted to take a night off. Don’t succumb to this momentary weakness of indecision, or rather, wrong decision. Decide to remain true to yourself.’”
#2 Find the time
We all have busy lives, but you do have the time to exercise – if you make time for it. How often did you check Facebook today? As an experiment, set a timer to keep track of how long you go on the Internet or watch television. If you stop thinking about exercise as an optional activity, you’ll find time.
#3 Book classes in advance
Booking a class on a regular day sets up a fitness schedule that will motivate you into the New Year. Make exercise something you look forward to as a treat for yourself rather than more unhealthy alternatives. Make a plan First, when will you exercise? Identify three days and times that are convenient for you and stick with those days so you are working out at the same time each week. Take a look at our New Year pilates timetable.
#4 Buy a fitness tracker
If you’re serious about your health in 2017 fitness trackers can be a useful motivation tool (think Fitbit). A fitness tracker is the perfect way to monitor your daily activity levels easily and with accuracy.
